On Friday, December 15, 2023 Two Way Street Coffee House Friday Night Concert Series presents the Dean Milano and Julianne Macarus.
Julianne Macarus and Dean Milano have worked together intermittently in various groups of fellow musicians for over forty years. Meeting in the 1970’s, Julianne joined Dean, Rick Shryock, and Jean Gordon Sredl, and the trio became a quartet called “The Casualaires.” The concentration was on Broadway and Swing music from the 1920’s, ’30s and ’40s, along with Country, Jazz, some Originals, and Odd Pieces one might not usually encounter.
Julianne and Dean worked together in the 1980s, in “Rubbaband,” a group that shared first place with “Joel Daly & The Sundowners,” in The Regional Marlboro Country Music Contest, at The Bar RR in Chicago and again at The Dry Gulch, a Western-Style Dinner Theatre in Schiller Park, Illinois.
Individually, both Julianne and Dean have released collections of Original Songs. Dean currently has 3 CDs, and Julianne put out a Cassette, (yes) in 1993.
Dean’s Book,”The Chicago Music Scene: The 1960s and ’70s,” is published by Arcadia Press.
Recordings of “The Casualaires” will soon be available for downloading at:
