(Suggested donation $10).  We will also host this concert virtually.  You may access the livestream on www.twowaystreet.org\, on our Facebook page or on our YouTube channel. \n\n\n\n\nOn Friday\, August 21\, 2026 Two Way Street Coffee House Friday Night Concert Series presents Lucy Holden.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFEATURED ARTIST\n\n\n\n\nLucy Holden draws inspiration from the folk traditions she grew up with—Irish tunes\, bluegrass festivals\, Québécois fiddle music\, and the storytelling power of classic singer-songwriters. Her songs read like journal entries\, pairing honest lyrics with expressive musicianship and a distinctive voice. Whether performing on guitar\, violin\, mandolin\, or piano\, Holden brings a fresh perspective to the folk tradition while honoring the sounds that shaped her musical journey. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nARTIST BIO\n\n\n\n\n\nLucy Holden is a singer/songwriter from Chicago. She travels around the country for much of the year\, drawing lyrical inspiration from alpine hikes\, canyon camping\, and desert flowers. Her musical style is heavily influenced by her background of folk music\, having grown up playing Irish tunes\, attending Bluegrass festivals\, and obsessing over Québécois foot-tapping fiddlers. Her songs read like journal entries\, honest and fluid\, driven by percussive playing. Her first single “At Last” came out in April 2026\, the first of ten original songs on her upcoming debut album. \n  \nLucy has played at numerous venues around Chicago and toured across the Midwest in Chicago folk rock band Honey Cellar and Beloit folk punk band Opus Dog. She recorded and co-wrote Honey Cellar albums\, In Our Time (2020) and Borders (2022). She also performed violin and vocals on Opus Dog album Responsible People (2014) and Hydrangea Benison album The White Lake (2016). \n  \nLucy started playing violin at the age of four and piano when she was six. She added guitar and mandolin to her repertoire in her teenage years. She brings a multi-intrumental perspective to her music\, often weaving together multiple instruments into each song and trading melody lines back and forth between her own intimate alto and an instrument. Her musical influences are diverse\, from folk bands Kornog\, Baal Tinne\, Planxty\, Le Vent du Nord\, and the Wailin’ Jennys\, to singer/songwriters Carol King and Vienna Teng\, to rock bands Led Zeppelin\, the Beatles\, and Bright Eyes. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you can’t join us in person\, you can still tune in virtually to catch the show!

When he ducks into the U.S. delegation’s office\, an aide blocks her — and then refuses to give her the business card Griffith said he’d give her. \nGoodman started her journalism career at New York’s independent radio station\, WBAI\, learning how to work a mic and edit tape as she went. She was a fast editor; a colleague describes how she did an interview only minutes before airtime\, then started editing — and played the first half while she still edited the second half. \nThe story that made Goodman nationally famous was her coverage\, with The New Yorker’s freelancer Allan Naim\, of a 1991 massacre of East Timorese independence protesters at the hands of the Indonesian military. As a solo artist\, he has performed around the US and his original songs have been played on folk radio around the world. As a member of the duo Fox & Branch\, Branch has performed for thousands of children and family members at festivals\, libraries\, and concert series. \nWith his playing partner Dave Fox\, as the duo Fox & Branch\, Branch played nearly 2\,000 shows over the course of more than 25 years. Fox & Branch recordings won five Parent’s Choice recommended awards. The duo appeared at festivals such as the Winnipeg Folk Festival\, The Philadelphia Folk Festival and The Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival (Westport\, Ireland). They have been featured at venues like The National Theater in Washington D.C.\, Symphony Space in New York City\, Club Passim in Boston and The Overture Center in Madison\, WI. \nBranch is also an experienced educator\, teaching classroom music at Montessori schools for 20 years. He has been a guest lecturer at music classes in high school and college classes. For over 2 decades\, he has taught Music Together classes around the Milwaukee area\, providing great musical experiences for families and young children. \nAmong the organizations Branch has worked with over the years are Downtown Montessori Academy\, VSA Arts of Wisconsin\, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee\, Milwaukee Public Schools\, YMCA of Greater Milwaukee\, Wisconsin Conservatory of Music\, Arts @ Large\, Milwaukee Art Museum\, Milwaukee Public Libraries\, Milwaukee Public Theatre\, Milwaukee Center for Independence\, New World Montessori School\, and Hal Leonard Publishing.
